In response to the unprecedented impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the US Congress passed the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act which gave way to the development and implementation of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). As of Aug 8, 2020, 5,000 lenders have approved 5.2 million loans totaling over $525 billion in guaranteed loans to small businesses and other organizations.
