The employee retention credit (ERC) was created with the CARES Act in March 2020 and originally was available through the end of 2020. With additional legislation, the credit is now available through the end of 2021. On Friday, April 2, 2021, the IRS issued guidance related to calculating the credit for the 1st and 2nd quarters of 2021.
